While the nation prepares to stop on that iconic first Tuesday of November, there is no rest in the life of a fashionista – with countless elements to consider, the dress, shoes, bag and of course finding the perfect millinery to pull your outfit together. And this years Emirates Melbourne Cup surly didn’t disappoint!
The Melbourne cup race day would have to be my favourite race meet of the season, the standard of fashion is at its peak, attention to detail is faultless and the creativity and colours galore is enough to get anyone’s heart racing.
Designer Helen Manuell – winner of the Myer Design Award 2015 sent beauty Bree Laughlin out on stage in a breathtaking space mesh Audrery Helburn inspired outfit that certainly ticked all the boxes for the judges (and was also my pick for the win). Helen is defiantly a designer to keep your eye on. And let’s just take a moment to appreciate the detail in the overall look ladies! From the beautiful gold jewellery to the flawless, elegant makeup with a classic strong Audrey like brow, to the amazing white peaked millinery from Jill Humphries – perfection!
Of course, we couldn’t discuss the cup without getting to the rulers of the coveted birdcage and they surely didn’t disappoint! For me, it was Bec Judd and Emma Freedman who stole the show!(Illustrations by Alexandra Nea, admire more of her beautiful pieces at www.alexandranea.com.au) Bec had me when she shared a snippet on Instagram Pre-Flemington of her knockout headwear by Hatmaker by Jonathan Howard and flawless, dewy makeup! With a beautiful bronzed eye and natural glossy lip by makeup extraordinaire Hendra Widjaja. Then of course, there was Emma in her amazing fire engine red pant suit from Farage Australia and adorned once again by Hatmaker – seriously treat your eyes to Jonathan’s Instagram @hatmakeraus you won’t be disappointed.
And just like Beyoncé claims Who runs the world – GIRLS we couldn’t agree more, with superstar Michelle Payne really stealing the show at this ever evolving race meet!
Until next year ladies.
